The big number 5 was quickly approaching and we were stuck for a theme. Our little one seemed to want a different theme every week and at his other house, the theme was already established. In the last couple months, the latest movie craze was a Pirate one from Veggie Tales and the song that was being sung everywhere was called 'The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything.' (That may even be the title of the movie, but I am being to lazy to go find it.) Therefore, my husband and I settled on a pirate party for our ever growing boy.
When I think of a fun invitation, a treasure map is the first thing that immediately enters my mind. So, a treasure map in a bottle seemed like a pretty cool delivery idea.

Thankfully, I had only set one on fire while burning the edges, but this rolled up complete with sand in bottle and the invites were out. Along with a bounce house (my husband and I have found that these are the way to go to get the most bang for your buck), we had a few games set and a real treasure hunt for their party favors set. Our back yard was now transformed into a boys pirate land.
The snacks were a great mix for every little (and big) pirate there. You could grab a quick handful of 'Cannon Balls', take a breather while you fill up on the 'Catch of the Day' or just hook your 'Fish Bait' before you walked the plank.
All little pirates found the hidden treasure and went home with gold and gems, no one fell in the water from walking the plank and there were no injuries from sword fights. Until the next quest at sea!
